Which Fine Air Filter Fits Your System?
Start with the required filtration performance, available installation space and operating airflow. Different filter constructions are not interchangeable on dimensions alone.
| Filter construction | Selection focus | Confirm before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Bag Filter | Space for pockets and the required filtration performance. | Pocket depth, pocket count, grade and resistance at the operating airflow. |
| Polyester Pocket Filter | The model-specific grade and its role in the system. | Required filtration stage, model grade, pocket configuration and frame. |
| Mini-pleat Filter | A shallow filter pack where installation depth is limited. | Actual depth, rated airflow, grade and perimeter sealing. |
| Minipleat Cardboard Filter | Cardboard-frame compatibility with the operating environment. | Actual dimensions, model-specific MERV rating and moisture exposure. |
| V-Bank Filter | Required airflow and compatibility with the filter housing. | Housing interface, overall depth, grade and available fan pressure. |
| Cassette Filter | Cassette fit and performance at the intended airflow. | Dimensions, rated versus maximum recommended airflow, seals and grade. |
| Fiberglass Cord Separator Filter — High Temperature | High-temperature service with fiberglass cord separators. | Continuous and peak temperatures, duration, grade and installation. |
| Flanged Aluminium Separator Filter — High Temperature | Heated-air service with the required flange configuration. | Flange dimensions, overall depth, temperature profile and sealing. |
Compare at the same airflow
Read pressure drop together with filter size, grade and test airflow. A lower pressure-drop value alone does not establish better performance.
Check the installation space
Pocket length, overall depth and front-frame thickness describe different dimensions. Allow for the housing, retaining system and maintenance access.
Keep the test standard
Provide the original grade and test standard. Do not treat MERV, historical EN 779 classes and ISO 16890 groups as directly interchangeable.
Some series include lower-efficiency models as well as fine-filtration options. Select the exact model against the system specification. Historical grade labels in existing documentation require confirmation of the applicable standard and test data.
Dimensions & Configuration Options
Provide the actual filter dimensions and installation details. Pocket depth, frame thickness, overall depth and flange dimensions describe different parts of the filter and should be identified separately.

Measure the correct construction
For pocket filters, provide outside frame width and height, pocket depth, pocket count and front-frame thickness. For rigid filters, provide outside width, height and overall depth. Include flange dimensions separately where present.
Media & frame
Available media and frame materials vary by product. Specify the selected model and any required material. Aluminium separators describe the internal separator material, not necessarily the outer frame.
Seals & mounting
Identify the sealing face, gasket position, retaining method and any flange arrangement. Photos of the existing filter and housing help us review compatibility.
Operating requirements
Provide airflow, allowable pressure drop, temperature, humidity and any special contaminants. Heated-air applications also require continuous and peak temperatures and exposure duration.
Custom dimensions and configurations are subject to confirmation for the selected product. Confirm actual dimensions rather than nominal sizes.
Applications for Fine Air Filtration
Match the filtration stage to the application. Required performance is set by the complete ventilation or process specification.

Fine Air Filter Questions, Answered
Practical guidance for selection, replacement and maintenance.
What is the difference between a pre-filter and a fine air filter?
A pre-filter typically captures larger particles at an early stage. A fine filter is selected for the finer-particle performance required by the system. The role depends on the exact model and system design, not just its shape. Some pocket-filter series include both lower-efficiency and fine-filtration models.
How do I choose between bag, mini-pleat, V-bank and cassette filters?
Compare required filtration performance, installation depth, airflow, pressure drop, maintenance access and operating conditions. Pocket filters need room for the specified pockets; rigid constructions need a compatible housing and sealing interface. Review the comparison above.
Are fine air filters the same as HEPA filters?
No. A fine-filter description or glass-fibre medium does not establish a HEPA classification. Where HEPA filtration is specified, select a product with the required classification and applicable test documentation. Explore our EPA / HEPA / ULPA range.
Can I compare EN 779, ISO 16890 and MERV ratings directly?
These standards use different test and classification methods. Do not treat their ratings as direct equivalents. Provide the standard and grade in your original specification and request applicable test data for the selected model. Historical EN 779 labels also need to be read with their standard version.
Can these filters be washed and reused?
Do not assume these filters are washable. Follow the maintenance instructions for the supplied product. Unless the manufacturer explicitly permits the method, do not wash, beat or reverse-blow a used filter for reuse; these actions can damage the media or filter construction.
When should a fine air filter be replaced?
Follow equipment and product maintenance requirements. Monitor pressure drop against the permitted limit, airflow and physical condition, taking account of the operating environment. Replace damaged or poorly sealing filters as appropriate. A single calendar interval does not apply to every installation.
Can a V-bank filter replace an existing bag filter?
A replacement requires review of the mounting interface, seals, available depth, airflow, pressure drop and required filtration grade. The same face dimensions alone do not establish compatibility. Send the existing filter label and housing photos for review.
Which products are available for high-temperature applications?
This range includes the Fiberglass Cord Separator Filter and the Flanged Aluminium Separator Filter. Confirm continuous and peak temperatures, exposure duration, airflow and the compatibility of the mounting and sealing components. Temperature suitability must be confirmed for the supplied configuration.
