Which Filter Media Fits Your Application?
Match the purchasing requirement first, then check the product specification and conditions in your equipment.
| Your requirement | Start with | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Ventilation prefiltration and replacement pads | Pre-Filter Media Rolls & Pads | Grade, thickness, dimensions and installation support. |
| Roll material for downstream filter manufacturing | DDSF Meltblown Filter Media | Model, roll dimensions, conversion process and test conditions. |
| Air filtration with temperature requirements | High-Temperature Fiberglass Felt | Continuous and peak temperatures, exposure duration, thickness and support. |
Use this comparison as a starting point. Resistance and dust-holding values should only be compared with their test conditions; different test velocities do not provide a like-for-like comparison.
How to Read Filter Media Specifications
Read material properties alongside the test basis, rather than choosing from a single number.
Media data and finished-filter performance
Media test data describes the material under stated conditions. The performance of a finished filter also depends on its design, effective media area, frame, sealing and manufacturing quality. A media grade is not a performance guarantee for every finished filter.
Pressure drop at the stated air velocity
Compare resistance values together with the stated test air velocity. DDSF models have different listed test velocities, so their resistance values should not be treated as a direct ranking.
Thickness and basis weight
Thickness describes the material depth; basis weight describes mass per unit area. Neither value alone establishes filtration efficiency or suitability. Check the selected material and application together.
Grade designation and test basis
Confirm the classification system and test basis behind a published grade. G2–G4, F5 and F8 designations in the product data are not automatic ISO 16890 equivalents. DDSF model numbers and colours identify models; they do not independently establish efficiency.
Supply Formats & Dimensions
Specify the supply form and dimensions together. State units clearly: roll width in mm, roll length in m, and cut-piece dimensions in mm.
Roll Media
Roll width × roll length- Material or model and required thickness
- Roll width, length per roll and number of rolls
- Conversion process and any roll-core or maximum-diameter limits
*Length follows the unrolled sheet; only a short section is illustrated. Thickness is specified separately. Roll format and machine compatibility are confirmed on enquiry.
Cut Pads & Pieces
Length × width × thickness- Material or model and dimensions in mm
- Quantity required for each size
- Installation support and airflow direction; a drawing for any special shape
Dimensions are schematic, not standard stock sizes. For fiberglass felt, confirm the specified outlet-face orientation before installation.
Typical Applications & Handling Considerations
Confirm suitability for the actual equipment, then handle and install the material to preserve its intended performance.
Ventilation Prefiltration
For supported prefiltration sections and replacement-pad applications.
- Select grade, thickness and dimensions together.
- Support the media evenly and secure the perimeter to limit bypass.
- Avoid excessive compression or stretching; monitor pressure drop and condition.
Filter Manufacturing & Conversion
For material selection within your downstream filter-production process.
- Confirm compatibility with cutting, support, composite construction and bonding.
- Keep rolls clean, dry and protected from crushing or contamination.
- Validate finished-filter performance for the actual design.
Heated-Air Equipment
For filtration sections requiring a review of temperature compatibility.
- Provide continuous and peak temperatures and peak exposure duration.
- Check the support, fixing and sealing materials as well as the felt.
- Follow equipment shutdown and cooling requirements before replacement.
Filter Media & Felts FAQs
Practical answers for material selection, ordering and replacement.
What is the difference between filter media and a finished air filter?
Filter media is the material used for filtration or further conversion. A finished filter also includes its supporting structure and sealing arrangement. Material test results and finished-filter performance should not be treated as interchangeable.
Should I order rolls or cut pads?
Rolls suit customers cutting or converting material in their own process. Cut pads may suit replacement requirements with defined dimensions. Availability and dimensions are confirmed for the selected product.
What information is needed for a quotation?
Send the product or model, thickness, dimensions, supply format, quantity and intended application. For heated-air equipment, also include continuous and peak temperatures and the duration of peak exposure.
Does thicker media provide higher filtration efficiency?
Not necessarily. Thickness alone does not establish efficiency. Review the material construction, published performance and test conditions for the selected model.
Do DDSF model numbers or colours indicate filtration efficiency?
No. DDSF-45, DDSF-65, DDSF-85 and DDSF-95 are model identifiers, not efficiency percentages. Colours identify models within this range. Use the confirmed specification for each model; do not infer a missing grade.
Can filter media be washed and reused?
Do not assume that a material is washable. Follow the maintenance requirements for the selected media and finished filter. Washing may alter its structure or performance; confirm suitability before cleaning.
How do I select fiberglass felt for a high-temperature application?
Provide continuous temperature, peak temperature, exposure duration, airflow conditions and the installation arrangement. Suitability must be confirmed for the material together with the support, fixing and sealing components.
Need Help Selecting Filter Media?
