Two pressure-drop figures are not automatically a fair comparison. Before deciding that one filter offers less resistance, check the airflow, dimensions and condition associated with each value. Reading these details together makes a specification table much more useful.
Read airflow and resistance as a pair
Airflow describes the volume of air passing through the filter over time. Pressure drop describes the pressure difference across it under stated conditions. The resistance of a given filter changes with airflow, so a lower figure measured at a lower flow does not establish better performance at your operating point.
Keep the original units in your enquiry. If data from different sources uses different units, convert it consistently before comparing values.
Check which filter size the data describes
Confirm that the published value applies to the width, height, depth and construction you intend to order. A product family may contain several configurations with different operating data. Do not assume one listed value covers every size.
The specifications for our V-bank filter and other products should be read against the selected configuration, rather than compared using the product name alone.
Distinguish initial and replacement conditions
An initial pressure-drop value describes the filter under its stated starting conditions. A final pressure-drop figure in a catalogue serves a different purpose and should be reviewed alongside the equipment’s limits and maintenance instructions.
A catalogue figure is not an instruction to continue operating until that number is reached. Damage or an equipment requirement may call for earlier action. Keep operational decisions with the responsible maintenance team.
Consider the complete installation
Changing a filter may affect the operating point of the system. The fan, other components and control arrangement influence the result. Lower filter resistance alone does not establish a specific energy saving or guarantee a particular airflow in the installed system.
What to send when asking for a comparison
Provide the required flow, units, filter dimensions, grade and any available resistance data. Include the current model and the reason for replacement. If a value is unknown, say so rather than substituting a catalogue maximum.
Use our filter selection guide to identify the product family, then contact CINRIWA to review the relevant configuration.
